The Northeastern is a collective of journalists and digital media specialists focused on India’s Northeast and its immediate neighbourhood. A large part of this multifaceted region, including its borders, still remains inadequately covered.

Many different worlds exist here, with their own dynamics and trajectories, often overlapping or feeding into each other.

Our endeavour is to cover these untold stories of the region, from culture to self-image, from the changing shape of political flashpoints to personalities
and ways of life as well as the emerging aspirations of the young.

Bridging the information gap between the Northeast and mainland India has become even more important in the backdrop of the plan to develop the Northeast as a link zone between South and South East Asia. We bring this region to you with all its vibrant shades and complexities through the different multimedia platforms.
